Privacy Policy
1. What We Collect
- Account information: Name and email address.
- Learning performance data: Answers to practice problems, accuracy rates, time spent, confidence ratings, mastery progress, and study session activity.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and timestamps.
2. How We Use It
- To provide personalized practice and adaptive learning.
- To generate AI-powered tutoring feedback and explanations.
- To show professors aggregated and individual student progress for their enrolled classes.
- To improve the platform and fix issues.
3. Data Separation and Anonymization
- Student identity (name, email) is stored separately from learning performance data.
- These are connected only when displaying progress to the student themselves or their enrolled professor.
- Platform developers and administrators do not access student identity alongside performance data.
- Your name and email are automatically removed before any message is sent to Anthropic (our AI provider). See Section 4 for what we send and what we can't catch.
4. How We Use AI
What we send
Some features (like tutoring chat, explanations, and hints) use Anthropic's Claude. When you use these, we send the conversation to Anthropic so Claude can respond.
Before sending, we automatically remove your email and your account name. Anthropic does not receive your grades, your performance history, or who you are.
One thing to know
If you type personal information into a chat (your name, a friend's name, your school, your schedule, anything like that), we can't reliably catch it before it reaches Anthropic. It's safer to keep chats about the coursework, not about you.
5. Other Services We Use
- Supabase: Hosts our database and authentication system. Stores account and learning data. See Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy (opens in a new tab).
- Vercel: Hosts our web application. Processes web requests. See Vercel's privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy (opens in a new tab).
6. Who Can See Your Data
- You: Your own complete learning data and account information.
- Your professor: Can see your name and learning progress for classes you are enrolled in.
- Platform administrators: Can see anonymized, non-identifying performance data for system monitoring and quality assurance. Cannot see your name or email alongside your performance data.
- No one else. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.
7. Data Retention
- We retain your account and learning data until you delete your account.
- Deletion is soft for 30 days: you can sign back in during that window to recover the account in one click.
- After 30 days, identifying information (profile, conversations, notes, calendar) is permanently removed.
- Anonymized aggregates (mastery curves, attempt outcomes, effect-size data) may be retained for research and product improvement, never linked back to you.
- We do not sell or share personally identifiable data with third parties.
8. Account Deletion
- You can delete your account from your account settings.
- Deletion is scheduled for 30 days out. During that window you can recover by signing back in; we'll route you to a one-click recovery page.
- After the grace window, your profile, conversations, notes, and calendar are permanently removed.
- Anonymized learning data (not linked to your identity) may be retained for research and platform improvement.
- We recommend exporting your data (see Your Rights below) before initiating deletion.
9. Your Rights
- Access your data at any time through the platform.
- Export your data: “Export my data” in Account settings downloads a JSON copy of your profile, mastery, attempts, conversations, sessions, notes, and calendar.
- Delete your account: Use “Delete account” in Account settings. The account enters a 30-day grace window during which you can recover; after that, identifying data is permanently removed.
- Recover during the grace window: Sign back in within 30 days and you'll land on a recovery page that restores access in one click.
